Makeup Masterclass with MUD & Willem Botha

Makeup Masterclass with MUD & Willem Botha
21 November 2020
Monte Bello Estate

MUD South Africa and Willem Botha has been working together in the industry for over 5 years and on 21 November 2020 we collaborated with our first ever Makeup Masterclass.

Willem Botha also launched his own MUD palette : The Chosen Collection in this day , and used the palette during the Masterclass.

Willem Botha is more known as an artist in the entertainment industry – singer, songwriter, actor, TV presenter and emcee. However more recently Willem has expanded his creative talents to include photography and is now a formidable photographer with many local magazines, celebrities, Miss S.A. pageant and more.

With his fine eye for detail and from a photographer’s point of view – he had to at times do the makeup for his own shoots – and as you can imagine – he has a natural flair for it.

All the Masterclasses will focus to teach a personal enrichment makeup – and even to get that photo ready look! This from Willem’s own trial and error over the last 5 years.

We are excited for all the masterclasses to follow all over SA, Namibia and maybe even beyond these borders!

Our guests were spoiled with goodie bags and delicious refreshments and after the masterclass, our guests were also spoiled with a few of Willem’s songs.

To find out if or when Willem will be in your area – get in touch with Willem’s Management team, Co Productions, or contact our Support office.

MUD Beginning

From 1998 we made a fundamental commitment to our clients to not only give the absolute best education available but we also promise to never compromise on quality. We provide students with the best tools and techniques to build their own beautiful careers in the makeup industry.

Today, we still stand by our commitment and continue to build our line of cosmetics with the same integrity we started with twenty years ago. Our products have never and never will be tested on animals, this is on of our many never changing promises to our customers. We take this very seriously as we believe that no colour cosmetics need to be tested on animals to determine intensity.

The way in which products are manufactured is crucial to the way they will perform. Formulation integrity is something we perform on each batch to ensure the best results possible. Once batches are approved the product are carefully packaged and assembled in our environmentally friendly packaging. We have a five day test that guarantees that the products has not been contaminated and the quality has not been compromised.

Once each batch passes all applicable analysis the product is finally ready to be sold. We produce our cosmetics with high quality ingredients, always focusing on the balance between the two primary elements, which is called pigment and vehicle. Pigment gives the product colour and vehicle makes it move. The higher the pigment concentration, the longer the product will last. We create our products to last and we do not compromise and the manufacturing to cut costs.

Our packaging also reflects the quality of our products and appeals to both the consumer and professional because we truly understand the need to cater for both markets. We are a independent company who put the needs of our customers, partners and employees first.

In 1997, MUD was created by a few friends who had a passion for make up education. With a couple of classrooms and a handful of students, MUD was on the verge of becoming something big. As we outgrew our small school in North Hollywood, California, our need for our own branded cosmetics line also grew. From the beginning our goal was to create products that also matched our curriculum and met the standard of our educators.

MUD School

In class, students get the opportunity to apply everything they need to know about etiquette, hygiene and professionalism. In the progression of the makeup course students are expected to complete full makeup looks and hairstyles within time frames to ensure that professional requirements and standards are being met. At MUD School students apply their makeup and hair skills to the professional set where, with supervision, they can see where and on what they still need to focus on.

MUD School also expose students to photographers within the learning environment because it enhances the freedom of creative exploration – and room for error if needed. We believe the more experience our students get, the more confident they will be. MUD is the world’s leading makeup School, studying with us will means securing a recognized and accredited qualification.

Kick start your career at MUD School while being surrounded, mentored and uplifted by professionals in the industry. MUD has a track record of more than 20 years in the beauty industry and we believe in the preference of quality over quantity. MUD School prides itself in the thorough content of its courses and its specific structures. MUD doesn’t teach students skills to mimic and copy without having them understand why it’s done a curtain way. This principle will help upcoming makeup artists to make better informed decisions in their makeup applications and creates a more versatile makeup artists in the end.

ItGirl Collection

itgirlcoverweb
#ItGirl Collection – Out in the Club – #MUDSelfie
She’s wearing the new MUD Collection. Looking Fabulous!

She was the beauty on everyone’s lips during Spring break, thanks to her incredibly stylish outfits and daring make-up looks- we’re always looking forward to seeing what she wears next. Her beauty choices have been mesmerising and the yellow and purple make-up at the Award Show was without- a-doubt our favourite. But, she revealed in an interview with MUD ART Magazine that she doesn’t rely on make-up to make her feel beautiful.

And it’s easy to see that she doesn’t need make-up to make her feel beautiful, thanks to her glowing skin. Her secrets involve Make-Up Designory products:
“I love MUD Taupe blended all the way to my brows. I use Daisy, which I mixed with Primer to use as eyeliner. It gives me a summer-night-out kind of glow! To cool my look down a bit, I use Mauve on my cheek-and for the final pop of colour I went for MUD’s new lipstick in IDOL #MUDbeauty!”
DISCOVER HER BEAUTY SECRET – Step by Step.
1. Contour
Apply the Taupe Eye Colour to contour the cheek with the 510 Fan Brush. Begin at the centre of the ear and follow the lower part of the ear and follow the lower part of the cheek bone and end below the outer edge of the iris. Soften the hard lines for a soft look.
2. Crease
Contour the crease of the eye with the Taupe Eye Colour and connect the outer lash line to the crease. Use a wet application for more depth. Be sure to extend the colour out, adding a lift to the outer corner in a wing-like shape.
3. Lid
Apply the Daisy Eye Colour wet with Brush 210 for an intense highlight.
Start in the inner corner of the lid and flare out to the outer edge.
4. Lower Lash Line
For added definition apply the Taupe to the lower lash line.
5. Cheek
With Brush 710, apply the cool Mauve Cheek Colour in a circular motion in the centre of the cheek bone.
6. Lip
Finish off the look with the Idol lipstick and the 310 Lip Brush.

Products available on request at the MUD Showrooms.

Celebrating Women’s Month With Orms

We are happy to say that the #photoready Women’s Month event was a great success! Although the overwhelming response resulted in a few long queues, it also allowed for some awesome networking with a lot of lovely ladies – a glass of bubbly or wine in hand.

The great teams from Tosca Salon, MUD, Forever Elegance, Santa Maria Novella and Kalila Jewellery made everyone feel special and beautiful for their individual photo shoots with fashion photographers Patrick Toselli and Neil Kirby. We had a great time and really enjoyed the positive energy of the women, as well as the beautiful weather and amazing views of the city and mountain from the venue. Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this fabulous day possible, especially Nikon SA and Tamron SA!
