Mrs South Africa Lifestyle Challenge

mrs1
Our Mrs South Africa Lifestyle Challenge took place in Cape Town from 27-30 June at the luxurious Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl.

During this weekend our Top 24 Mrs South Africa Finalists were subjected to various lifestyle challenges such as a makeup-challenge, various photo shoots, a fitness challenge with various celebrities such as former and current Mrs SA, Cindy Nell and a fitness challenge with Lisa Raleigh.

Our weekend was very busy and filled with various activities and photo shoots which MUD professional makeup artists did makeup for all 24 of the finalists as well as our current Mrs SA along with a few celebrities.
We also did a “hair and makeup challenge” on the Saturday afternoon where we did a demonstration/workshop for our finalists on how to create an “Old Hollywood Glamour Look” and then the finalists had to “recreate the look” as part of their challenge. Look out for this on the Expresso Morning show.

Our finalists also had to do “product reviews” over the Lifestyle weekend (written reviews as well as video clips) We are waiting for this footage and will share these on social media and on our next blog post.
We also hosted a pamper party in association with Caribbean Tan on the Friday night where the finalists were filmed “playing with makeup”.
The Sunday Times sent a photographer/journalist to cover the weekend. Other media publications such as Fairlady Magazine and Idees Tydskrif as well as local press will cover the event.

Wednesday, 7 August 2013 marks the launch of the very first Make-Up Designory (MUD) in Johannesburg – a professional make-up showroom that will cater to professional make-up artists. The new showroom will be situated in the Aston Manor Shopping Centre in Aston Manor, Kempton Park.

Cindy Brits, distributor of MUD products on the Johannesburg East Rand, says: “The launch of the Johannesburg showroom will give women the opportunity to experience this new and exciting professional range, while learning different techniques on how to apply their make-up like a professional. MUD International is a school by make-up artists, for make-up artists and the products are made for the professional make-up artist as well as the public consumer looking for a top-end product.”
“The MUD showroom in Johannesburg will host a number of programs and courses for professionals as well as workshops for the novice wanting to improve their skill level or technique.  During the training programmes, students will learn by doing make-up in an inspiring, supportive environment. All of the teachers draw upon at least five years of experience in a diverse range of make-up fields, so will be able to assist students in any path the decide to choose,” says Brits.

She notes that approved MUD Showrooms work in association with the Centurion Academy, which is a Somatology Training Institution registered at the department of higher education.

Aside from the training programmes, MUD also specialises in bridal make-up and other special occasions that may require the expertise of a professional make-up artist. “We will be able to assist brides on their special day, giving them the peace of mind that their make-up is done by a trained professional with top quality MUD products. This will ensure that the make-up is premium photographic and high pigment concentration for the right colour to suit the bride’s skin type,” says Brits.

A mini-workshop on the products and their application will be hosted at the launch of the new MUD showroom, with all products available at wholesale prices to professionals on the day.  The first workshop for trade professionals will be held on 7 August from 9:00am to 12:30pm and the second will run from 1:00pm to 4:30pm on the same day.

ItGirl Collection

#ItGirl Collection – Out in the Club – #MUDSelfie
She’s wearing the new MUD Collection. Looking Fabulous!

She was the beauty on everyone’s lips during Spring break, thanks to her incredibly stylish outfits and daring make-up looks- we’re always looking forward to seeing what she wears next. Her beauty choices have been mesmerising and the yellow and purple make-up at the Award Show was without- a-doubt our favourite. But, she revealed in an interview with MUD ART Magazine that she doesn’t rely on make-up to make her feel beautiful.

And it’s easy to see that she doesn’t need make-up to make her feel beautiful, thanks to her glowing skin. Her secrets involve Make-Up Designory products:
“I love MUD Taupe blended all the way to my brows. I use Daisy, which I mixed with Primer to use as eyeliner. It gives me a summer-night-out kind of glow! To cool my look down a bit, I use Mauve on my cheek-and for the final pop of colour I went for MUD’s new lipstick in IDOL #MUDbeauty!”
DISCOVER HER BEAUTY SECRET – Step by Step.
1. Contour
Apply the Taupe Eye Colour to contour the cheek with the 510 Fan Brush. Begin at the centre of the ear and follow the lower part of the ear and follow the lower part of the cheek bone and end below the outer edge of the iris. Soften the hard lines for a soft look.
2. Crease
Contour the crease of the eye with the Taupe Eye Colour and connect the outer lash line to the crease. Use a wet application for more depth. Be sure to extend the colour out, adding a lift to the outer corner in a wing-like shape.
3. Lid
Apply the Daisy Eye Colour wet with Brush 210 for an intense highlight.
Start in the inner corner of the lid and flare out to the outer edge.
4. Lower Lash Line
For added definition apply the Taupe to the lower lash line.
5. Cheek
With Brush 710, apply the cool Mauve Cheek Colour in a circular motion in the centre of the cheek bone.
6. Lip
Finish off the look with the Idol lipstick and the 310 Lip Brush.

Products available on request at the MUD Showrooms.

Celebrating Womens Month with ORMS

Celebrating Women’s Month With Orms

We are happy to say that the #photoready Women’s Month event was a great success! Although the overwhelming response resulted in a few long queues, it also allowed for some awesome networking with a lot of lovely ladies – a glass of bubbly or wine in hand.

The great teams from Tosca Salon, MUD, Forever Elegance, Santa Maria Novella and Kalila Jewellery made everyone feel special and beautiful for their individual photo shoots with fashion photographers Patrick Toselli and Neil Kirby. We had a great time and really enjoyed the positive energy of the women, as well as the beautiful weather and amazing views of the city and mountain from the venue. Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this fabulous day possible, especially Nikon SA and Tamron SA!
